Transcripts for the above video clip:
INSERT CELL PROJECT
Just as you can insert a row, you can also just INSERT individual
CELLS. Again this has its risks.
So for example you’ve got a very simple spreadsheet here
with a couple of Products and you realize as you were typing in
the Cost of Sales, you accidentally forgot Product C’s Cost
of Sales. And you typed Product D’s Cost of Sales into Product
C.
And there’s a simple solution, and just to emphasize and to
show you what is being done here, you are subtracting one from the
other.
You realize that one should actually be in Product D so what do
you do
- you say Insert,
- and you say Shift that Cell Right please
- say Ok
- and you put in the correct number
What you need to realize however, is that Excel has now adapted
the formulas. What has happened is you’ve now got Product
C subtracting from Product D, and that is being carried forward.
So it’s very important to think seriously about when you’re
going to insert individual cells. And I don’t recommend you
do it at all, if you are going to do it, just look at the cells
around it, again using the Auditing Toolbar.
