Spreadsheet Professional can, at the touch of a button, produce documentation for your spreadsheets.

So for this spreadsheet we have a summary sheet which tells us a little bit of information about the spreadsheet, it also lists all the sheet names which would include any hidden sheets. It also provides a sheets which gives all the range names, and what they refer to, and all external links.

The map gives a high level overview of the spreadsheet pointing out where all the text is, where the number values are, where the formulas are, where the copies of the formulas are.

The translation sheet will take every single calculations and determine what its English translation is, show you the calculation, give you the calculation in words, give you the actual numbers and give you the result.

Provide you with a sheet with the calculations greyed out and spaces for where inputs are required. Similarly provide you with a sheet with the calculations greyed out but showing you what current inputs sit in the spreadsheet.

Perform some general tests and point out some items and cells that potentially exhibit some risky characteristics that should be investigated further.

And then a sheet just to put your other information.

The Spreadsheet Professional Document Tracer allows me to document complex calculations. So if I click on a cell and click Spreadsheet Formula Tracer I get a bubble diagram that tells me what is happening in that cell, converting it into English, giving me the number and giving me the calculation. I can now drill down to understand more what is affecting that calculation. And when I am happy with the level of detail I have got, I can document  by clicking this button and now I have the diagram in Excel so I can print out and put it on file or give it to an auditor to review what is happening in that spreadsheet.
