Weekday

The weekday function in Excel allows you to determine what day of the week a particular date was.  So activate the function wizard and go to Date and Time and find the WEEKDAY  function. Click OK. You need to tell Excel what to look at so in Serial_number -  insert  A9 (you want to know what day of the week 1 Jan 2009 was).  An important issue here is the Return _type- if you put a 1 it will make Sunday day 1 and Saturday day 7. If you put 2 then Monday is day 1 and Sunday is day 7. I am going to use 2 and you’ll see that 1^st Jan 2009 was day 4 which was  a Thursday. Click OK and see the result in Column B and C.  You can now copy it down your column and you will see for each date what day of the week it was.
