Excel Database Functions

There are various Excel database functions to help you perform specific steps in the database. Some of the Excel database functions are briefly discussed below.

DCOUNT

DCOUNT stands for database count. The function will consider each of the cells in a specified column that matches the criteria as set by the user and will then return a count of all the cells that match the criteria. Note that count of cells with a specific numeric value will thus be returned. The function as such operates in the same way as the COUNT function except that it is used in the database.

DSUM

DSUM stands for database sum and is used to add the values in a column to match the criteria as set by the user. It works the same as the SUM functions, but applies to the database. As such it will calculate the return value from the values in the list specified in the argument.

DAVERAGE

DAVERAGE stands for database average and as you most probably already worked out will perform the same as the AVERAGE function, but for the database. As such it will select a set of values and compare them to the criteria as set by the user. It will then calculate the average from those values.

We offer free online tutorials about Excel database functions with audio and visual aids through our easy to follow videos. In addition we also provide a print ready script. You will find the step by step guidance to exceptionally easy to follow and since we also work with an example you will be able to identify the applicability of Excel database functions. In addition to the free online training we also provide various courses to help you become a power user of the program and thus be able to perform advanced calculations with ease.
