Excel Hyperlinks

Excel hyperlinks provide convenient ways for users to access another document, workbook or a place in a workbook. You can insert Excel hyperlinks into cells or shapes in the program by selecting the shape or cell and then choosing hyperlink from the insert menu.

Another way to do so is to select the cell or shape and then right-click with your mouse. From the insert menu select hyperlink. The dialog box will open and you can then enter the cell reference number where you want to link to whether it is in the existing workbook or another workbook. You can also link to another file, a web page, Word document, PowerPoint presentation or an email address. You will add the place where the link should go to in the subject line of the hyper linking dialog box. The program makes it possible to edit the text for a link in a cell as well.

Linking to a range in a specific worksheet can be done by entering the cell reference or by selecting a name. You have the option of browsing to another workbook and then to link to a cell or cells in that workbook by clicking on the bookmark option. Then browse to the specific location in that workbook. Hyper linking will open the linked document when the user clicks on the link. If changes are made in the source document it will not affect the workbook from where you have linked.

Although it is not possible to link directly to a chart you will be able to place a link to the cell where the chart is located. You will link to the cell range of the chart.
