Excel ISodd Function
The Excel ISodd function operates in a manner similar to the ISeven function. Whereas the ISeven function is used to locate even numbers through the return of a TRUE value when the numbers are even and FALSE when the numbers are odd, the Excel ISodd function will return a TRUE for odd numbers and a FALSE for even numbers.
The Excel ISodd function is not embedded in the program. As such it is only available when the user has installed the Analysis Toolpak which is one of the many useful add-ins for the program. If you cannot use the function then the Analysis Toolpak is not installed.
To install the Analysis Toolpak go to your main menu on top of your screen. Select the Tools option. In the drop-down menu point to Add-ins and once the dialog box opens, click Analysis Toolpak. Select OK to have it applied and follow the set-up instructions. Now you will be able to use the function.
To get to the function, go to your main menu and select the function wizard. Select more functions if it is not displayed and then select the applicable function.
The syntax for the function is ISODD(number) where number represents the value to be tested. Note that truncation indicates that the number is not an integer. Non numeric numbers will lead to a return of the #VALUE error.
Go to the list and select the reference number by pointing to it and open the function wizard. Select the function and it will give you a true or false value depending on whether the number is even or odd. You can copy the value down the whole list to find all the even or odd numbers.
