Excel Math Functions
A few of the Excel Math functions that you will come across when working with the program will be briefly discussed below. We offer various video based online tutorials to guide you step by step through each of the Excel Math functions.
ROUND
The syntax for the Round function is =ROUND(number, number of digits). It allows for specification of the number which will be the value that need to be rounded and the decimal places which you want it to round to. It is a useful Excel Math function when working with currencies. You can also specify zero at the number of digits which will then return an integer. If you specify a negative number the rounding will take place on the left of the decimal. If you want to round the number to the nearest Integer you will use the INT function whereas the use of the ABS (Absolute function) will return the absolute of a number.
COUNTIF
The COUNTIF function is used for the counting of a number of cells in a set range that matches the user criteria as specified. It has the syntax =COUNTIF(range, criteria). The range will then be the cells that you need to count and the criteria which can be either an expression or a number or even text will specify the cells which must be counted.
RAND
It is not a currency function, but a function to generate random numbers. The function will return numbers which are greater than, equal to, 0 as well as less than one.
