Data cleanup using AutoFilter

It may be necessary to clean up data for reporting purposes. It is however, one of the most time consuming processes and for this reason the AutoFilter function has been included in the package. It will save time and ensure a neater end-product.

There may be empty rows or columns which need to be deleted to ensure a neat report. To do this, select the range of cells that you want to clean up. Point to Data on the Menu Bar. Select Filter. The Filter options will display. Select the AutoFilter option. It will apply automatic filtering.

Data cleanup using Advanced Filter

If you want more control you will use the Advanced Filter option. Follow the same route as with AutoFilter but select the Advanced Filter option. The dialog box will display and will give you the options to filter the list in place or to copy it to another location. Click the relevant radio button. In the list range box enter the range for example A1:A9. It also provides a Criteria range option. If you only want unique records to be displayed make sure the box is ticked.
