Scoping |
| |
|
|
|
The initial phase of a model build involves scoping
the assignment and assessing the skills that will be required.
This would involve visiting the client and discussing
the spreadsheet to be developed and the uses for the model.

Initial Planning Stage |
| |
The single most important aspect of a spreadsheet
development is the planning and design stage. At this point
it must be established what the inputs to the spreadsheet will
be, what calculations are required and what the outputs or reports
will be. At the same time it is important to understand how
the spreadsheet will be used (how many people, time period etc)
|
| |
At this stage we require that the client provides
feedback on whether the spreadsheet design is in line with what
is required. |
| 3 |
Development Stage |
| |
Once the planning is complete to the client satisfaction
the model is developed. |
| |
Our spreadsheet development process focuses on simplicity
and ensuring the spreadsheet is as transparent and easy to understand
as possible. The concepts we adhere to is of consistency, separation
and integrity. |
| |
Depending on the requirements of the client it
is possible to build in stages so that the client is aware of
the look and feel of the model as spreadsheet development progresses. This
is often an iterative process and sometimes is combined with
the testing stage that follows. |

Testing Stage |
| |
Once spreadsheet development is complete detailed testing
is performed. |
| |
We use Spreadsheet
Professional to ensure the accuracy of the model. It is
important to us that the client, and in particular the actual
end user, assists in this process to ensure that not only does
the model meets the clients needs but the end user has a feel
for the inner workings of the spreadsheet. |

Feedback on spreadsheet development |
| |
Feedback is encouraged during the entire process of spreadsheet development.
The better the communication between the client and us, the
better the final solution. |

Handover |

The model is formally handed over together with
the agreed upon level of documentation and training. |
