Spreadsheet Design (learn how on the
Training Page)
| Excel spreadsheets have become a fundamental
tool in business decisions. At the same time these models are
becoming increasingly more complex. It is no longer possible to
expect every person in your organisation to develop a quality
excel solution. |
|
|
We design
excel models that will address you needs by combining your business
knowledge with our knowledge of developing decision tools in Excel.
Types of developments include:
|
|
|
First Time Developments: As organizations encounter new situations there is often a need
to consider the potential implications, and more often than not
a excel model is used. We can assist in building models for feasibility
studies, business plans, valuations and other specific decision
requirements. Incorporating our corporate finance knowledge the
models will be constructed in such a way to be acceptable to banks
in, for example, projects requiring external finance.
Redesigns:
You probably already have excel models that are critical to the
organisation that have been developed over many years. These models
were often designed and worked on by different developers (some of
who may have left the organisation) and have been added to.
|
As a result you have a spreadsheet that in one way or another
finds an answer, but it is messy, not always reliable and difficult
to understand. What was originally planned may no longer exist.
Without a doubt there will be errors in it.
We redesign excel models so that they are easier to use and maintain
and reduce the probability of errors.
Prototyping:
Excel is a fabulous tool for planning and prototyping new software
and IT systems.
By preparing an initial draft in Excel you can start considering
the complications that will occur and at the same time provide the
end users with an idea of the look, feel and functionality of the
system. This means that you can get feedback on what the actual
end product needs to be before you get into the system design in
formal software packages.
We can assist in developing these prototypes using our excel development
knowledge.
