Excel 2016 Training Courses

How Do I Find Suitable Excel 2016 Courses?

Nowadays it is imperative that you know how to put together a spreadsheet, even if it is an elementary one.  Many software companies have released software that enables the easy creation of spreadsheets, but Microsoft Excel is still the most popular, even in its 2016 version.  You can do worse than to do Excel 2016 training courses, even if it is already 2018, as it is very similar to the latest versions, and very compatible with new spreadsheet software.  These courses can also be cheaper, as it is not the based on the latest version of software.

It is very important that we are computer literate in this new age, and nobody can afford to be left behind.  There are literally hundreds of training providers who offer all kinds of IT courses of any format and description, and we can make use of their services to ensure that we are up to date with IT programme developments.  There is a large variety of spreadsheet packages on the market, all provided by software companies trying to gain some of the market share currently taken up by Microsoft, but without much success.  Specialist accounting packages like QuickBooks and Pastel are the only non-Microsoft spreadsheet programmes which take any market share from Excel 2016, but this is because they specialise in accounting functions.  While it is possible to do accurate accounting in Excel, when more sophisticated bookkeeping functions are required, more specialist packages are more likely to be used.

With all the new developments in the Learning and Development field, learning a new skill is much easier than it used to be a few years ago.  We are not restricted to doing training face to face training courses with an instructor in our physical vicinity any more.  If you have access to a computer, or to the internet, you can learn via online learning or download training tutorials.  Many training companies now offer computer-based and online training courses, which enable users to have access to the course without being restricted by geography, transport problems or timetables.

When choosing your training you can consider the following methods:

  1. Classroom-based:  doing a course in a classroom situation with a live instructor is the traditional way of doing training.  This is usually the preferred method of gaining a lot of knowledge quickly and also to learn complicated skills.  The personal interaction of the instructor ensures that learners have access to answers to problems immediately, and the instructor can demonstrate practical solutions where possible.  The classroom-based course is usually more intimate and more focused than an online experience.  On the other hand, face to face courses are relatively restrictive – they are run in a particular place on a particular date, and can be difficult to attend.
  2. CBT (Computer-based training):  This refers to training done on a computer and does not necessarily have to be online.  Training programmes on CD can be used to learn new skills by working through training modules or tutorials on the computer.  These modules can be done via video feed, elementary programmes and even game simulations.  Courses usually provide an assessment after each module during which the learner can identify problem areas to pay attention to.
  3. Online learning:  If you have access to the internet you can do a course online.  This means that you will either pay for a course and be sent a download to do via CBT, or register with a training provider and then do a course and evaluation online.  This allows flexibility in time and location, and you can do the course at your own pace.
