Excel data table formula replaced with values

Data tables are an extremely useful feature in Excel and help you run complex sensitivities. However if you try and move them around you may discover that they seem to stop working. In fact if you look closely enough you will see Excel data table formula replaced with values.

This is normal in Excel. If you copy and paste or cut and paste a data table, depending on how it is done, it acts as a copy paste as values and the formula and hence the power of the data tables are lost.

In order to activate them again, you need to re do the process i.e highlight the cells (1 below) and switch the data tables back on (2)
