If you are a fan of Microsoft Excel and spreadsheets in general you should look at this YouTube video covering the last 25 years  (History of Excel).

Excel seems to be continuously threatened with extinction from one spreadsheet killer or another but we see it becoming stronger and stronger. If only companies would take the risks of Excel seriously there would be less errors. The solution is simple

  • Train your staff to use the spreadsheet software. Not only which buttons to push but also what good practice is and how to avoid errors
  • Make use of tools like Spreadsheet Professional to find errors. They are cheap but the errors they eliminate are typically huge
