Excel textbox linked to cell value

Excel textbox linked to cell value

A nice trick, useful for dashboards, is to get an excel textbox linked to cell value. This means that you can use formula and the like in a cell and the result can be conveniently shown in a suitably placed text box.

First thing to do is to create the text box (INSERT, SHAPES, TEXT BOX) and place it in the desired location. Then click on the box (not in the box) so that it seems ready to be moved around. Now, click inside the formula bar (at the top in the toolbars where you can enter formula) and type = and link to the desired cell.

You will see that now the text box contains the text within the cell. When the cell contents changes, the text box will as well.
