Including Max and Min in your Status Bar

In the newer versions of Excel, the Status Bar (bottom right portion of screen which shows the SUM and AVERAGE if you highlight a group of number cells) can be customised to include a number of useful calculations. In Excel 2003, you had to choose either SUM or AVERAGE or COUNT etc. Only one at a time.

Now in Excel 2007 and Excel 2010, you can include all these items to see them at the same time. So when you highlight a group of number cells you can see:

Average,

Count,

Numerical Count,

Maximum,

Minimum, and

Sum.

This means that you can quickly get a sense of a group of cells without building formula (or pulling out your calculator!)
