If you make use of Excel 2013 then you should seriously look at getting the free PowerMap add in that allows you to visualise information using a map as the background.

As a quick example we used the Currie Cup log to show the various cities and the log points of the teams. By simply highlighting the table and including the town name (that’s all you need to do- include a town name e.g. Johannesburg, Pretoria etc) and Excel will (correctly) place it on the map.

You can even create a video clip to show the results as shown below. Very useful when you want to emphasize geographically important information. The image below took about 5 minutes to create.
