Three Way Data Table in Excel

Excel provides a number of great sensitivity tools, and one of the best is the data table which allows you to create a matrix of sensitivities. However, you can’t create a three way data table in Excel. You are limited to a 2 variable data table.

We have developed a method to create a three way data table, and in fact you can use the same method to create a four way data table or even more.

The video clip Three Way Data Table shows how this can be done and provides a work along spreadsheet. It also shows useful ways to present the data. This is particularly useful in financial models where you are required to show the impact of changes in key variables (normally three or four).
